My Leica owning friends will be pleased to hear that, after using the X100 for a few days now, I a have no doubt that, generally speaking, the Leica M8. 2 is better for image quality, especially with the right lenses. Definitely high iso is something the X100 really does well in, though in a comparison in black and white I made on 12 June, to be uploaded sometime soon, I actually found I preferred the M8 on 1250 clack and white to the X100 at 1600. Colour is a different matter I like to use film because I love it. Using film creates a physical chronicle, by the negative, of the day and the photograph. I am sure he M9 is even better, and I still prefer the images of my film Ms than I do over the M8, generally. Far from it. For may things it is better than the M8 - autofocus, lightness and silence, macro ability and high iso. It's generally a better camera and of course you can use different focal lengths....

An old point and shoot Fuji camera I used to use has the best macro feature and I used to take super close photos of everything with that camera. I just got my hands on one of the first Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 45mm f/1. 8 Lens for Micro Four Thirds Cameras lenses to hit the United States. A 90mm lens is often looked upon as a perfect lens to make head and shoulders portraits. For those of you unfamiliar with the 4/3 camera system, a 45mm lens has en effective focal length (EFL – otherwise known as crop factor) of 2. 8 lens in this focal length is previously unheard of in the 4/3 system. And while Olympus covers this focal length in its zoom lenses, none are as sharp, or more importantly, as fast as the 45mm f/1. 8. That means the 45mm lens represents the EFL of 90mm on a 4/3 system. Reader Neil McDiarmid suggested the Manfrotto 438 ball camera leveller which turns my Fancier tripod head into a bowl-type tripod head. A few days ago I wrote about my frustrations about not being able to find a practical solution for leveling a portable tripod without a bowl . I have a decent tripod head, the Fancier FT-717 , but it's not a bowl head. I also have a cheap Velbon tripod I can only level by extending/retracting legs: tedious and impractical. My Manfrotto 525P kit is too heavy/big for portable use.

Its so Q! The Pentax Q
12 MP with 5 interchangeable lens. This baby looks nothing like its contenders like the modern looking Samsung Nex or Lumix GF3 series but more closely to a Leica M9. What makes it slightly different is its lens and another fun part is that the flash can be popped out. Just my two cents but it is probably the most sensible looking toy camera in the generation of plastic toy cameras out in the local market. Why I'm so nuts about it is probably because its a point-and-shoot equipped with more than the usual photo filters like Black and White, monotone, retro to name a few (there are also scene modes too.
