30.01.12
Nikon watchers expected the D700 to go away, however there has been little in the way of information regarding a D300s replacement. According to Nikon Rumors the upcoming D800 will be revealed on Tuesday, February 7th.
The D800 will sport a 36 megapixel image sensor and provide 51 auto focus points. USB 3.0 support and dual memory card slots are also expected, along with the Nikon Expeed 3 image processor. The display on the D800 could surpass three inches, and ISO sensitivity up to 6400 (ISO HI-2 at 25600) has also been rumored. The D800 may even come in two different models, with and without an antialiasing filter.

Nikon is rumored to have decided on discontinuing two of their products. So moving out would be the D300s and D700 cameras, and will now feature in their ‘old products’ listing.

It is believed that the company is readying the platform for their upcoming models: D400 and D800 by this dropping out. If you remember, both the D400 and D800 cameras have been appeared in several leaks before.
Though Nikon hasn’t revealed any thing about the new cameras, it is expected that D400 is the successor of D300s whereas D800 is the replacement to the D700.
